Madrid-based The Frank Barton Company is producing a second season of its preschool animation series, “Pim Pam Pino.” The show has become a hit on YouTube, and the company seeks additional distribution partners.
As launching in Spanish and English on YouTube in late 2024, “Pim Pam Pino” has attracted 70,000 subscribers and 55 million views worldwide. The company’s commitment to further developing this original series marks a shift for the animation and special effects boutique, known for its work with global brands.
Founded in 2008, The Frank Barton Company initially built its reputation thru animated advertising campaigns across Europe. However, ”Pim Pam Pino” emerged from the team’s desire to create something more enduring.
Ursula García, executive producer and co-director at The Frank Barton Company, said the team wanted to create something lasting. “For every ad campaign, we had to build a brand-new universe from scratch—only to see it disappear once the job was done. We wanted to create something that could last, something of our own,” García said.
García added, “That’s how Pim Pam Pino was born: as a space where we could tell our own stories, at our own pace.”
The 3D animation series, conceived and produced without external funding, draws inspiration from wooden toys and manipulative materials. It creates an immersive world designed for children ages 0-5. Rather than focusing on lead characters, the show uses wooden pieces, such as cats on vacuum cleaners and flying piglets, to tell new stories, much like a child playing with a toy box.
Each episode introduces learning moments, teaching counting, emotions, and animals. Thes lessons are animated to original songs or traditional melodies reimagined using wooden instruments.
Walter Belenky, creative director of the show, said the goal is to offer a respectful, screen-based learning experience. “Our goal with Pim Pam Pino is to offer a respectful, screen-based learning experience that echoes the tactile richness of real-world play,” Belenky said. “The slow pacing, warm tones, and thoughtful music are all designed to support healthy cognitive and emotional advancement in young children.”
