Rawalpindi Cantonment Boards Announce Annual Budgets, Development Plays Key Role

The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) and rawalpindi Cantonment board (RCB) have released their annual budgets for the fiscal year 2025-26, outlining meaningful financial allocations for development projects. The Chaklala Cantonment Board’s budget totals Rs3.229 billion, with Rs503 million designated for development. The Rawalpindi Cantonment board’s budget is Rs7.43665 billion, allocating Rs1.044 billion for development initiatives. The budget’s role is seen as vital for community growth.

Historically, Cantonment Executive Officers announced these budgets before local government elections.This year, however, the boards submitted their budget estimates to military authorities after internal meetings, foregoing a public announcement.
According to RCB members, the Vice President of RCB and CCB traditionally announces the budget. Budget documents show the CCB allocating Rs1.325 billion for salaries and office expenditures, Rs998 million for contingencies, Rs27 million for new projects, and Rs380 million for repairs and maintenance.
Specific CCB allocations include Rs1.5 million for employee housing, Rs5.345 million for a Medical and Dental College near Ayub Park, Rs250 million for a shopping arcade at Chungi No. 22, Rs81 million for a building near Marrir Chowk, and Rs172 million for a commercial building on Abdul Sattar Road. These projects highlight the boards’ roles in community development.
The CCB anticipates generating Rs1.627 billion from taxes and fees, Rs530 million from property tax, Rs3.5 million from fines, and Rs403 million from miscellaneous sources.
The RCB budget includes Rs3.2 billion for employee salaries and office expenses, Rs1.68 billion for miscellaneous expenses, and Rs1.39 billion for repairs, maintenance, and ongoing projects. Revenue projections include Rs3.52 billion from taxes and fees, Rs1.8 billion from property tax, Rs1.055 billion from miscellaneous sources, and Rs220 million from grants and security contributions.
