Google and Jimmy Fallon are pulling out all the stops to convince you that the new Pixel 10 lineup is the must-have phone of the year. But before you rush out to join the hype, let’s take a closer look at what’s really on offer.
Yes, the Pixel 10 might technically be the “best Pixel yet,” but that doesn’t automatically translate to “best phone for you.” Here’s why I’m hesitant to recommend an upgrade this time around.
The Copy-Paste Culture: Are We Being Shortchanged?

Take a good look at the image above. Can you honestly tell the difference between the Pixel 10 Pro XL and its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro XL? The design is strikingly similar, and that’s not just skin deep. Much of the hardware has been carried over from the previous generation.While this practice is becoming increasingly common in the smartphone industry, that doesn’t make it right. A new chipset and a few software tweaks shouldn’t warrant a whole new phone model.Remember the days when such incremental upgrades were labeled wiht an “S” or a “Plus”?
Actually, the vanilla Pixel 10 has even downgraded the camera system, a move Google somehow spins as an improvement.This wouldn’t be such a problem if companies were upfront about one key thing: money. This lack of innovation wouldn’t be as big of an issue…
