Under the version 7.1.7 firmware update, the PlayStation Portal caps its maximum battery charge at 80 percent by default. Sony implemented this threshold modification to protect the device’s long-term battery lifespan and overall health. Users who prefer a full charge can manually adjust the charging limit by going to Settings, then System, and finally Battery. PlayStation Lifestyle notes that configuring the charging limit beyond the 80 percent default can impact overall battery performance, system stability, and long-term durability. Alongside the power management adjustments, the 7.1.7 firmware update includes targeted enhancements to system software performance and stability.
