Playtime Just Got Safer: EEC Overhauls Program for Developing Interstate Toy Standards in the EAEU
EEC Approves Changes to Program for Development of Interstate Standards for Toy Safety
The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Board has approved amendments to the program for developing interstate standards that ensure the implementation and application of the technical regulations “On the safety of toys.”
The amendments include the development of four cross-cutting standards in 2025-2026, focusing on requirements for board games that enhance the sense of smell and kits for producing perfumes and cosmetics. Additionally, these standards will cover methods for determining the level of migration of harmful chemicals.
A key aspect of the amendments is the development of an interstate standard for determining the migration level of vinyl acetate from textile materials and polymers. This standard will be based on the methodology developed by the EEC as part of its research.
