Stony Brook Hospital Pioneers Collaborative Approach to Lipid Management
Stony Brook University Hospital is enhancing care for patients with high cholesterol through a new, collaborative model involving pharmacists, nurses, and other staff. The initiative, spearheaded by On Chen, MD, and Tahmid Rahman, MD, aims to streamline medication delivery and administration for those undergoing advanced lipid management.
“It really was a collaboration with pharmacy, with nursing, with clerical and everyone working together to get the medication delivered and administered,” said Rahman in an interview with Pharmacy Times.
The Center for Advanced Lipid Management, part of the Stony Brook Heart Institute, is focused on providing tertiary care for the Long Island region. This new approach underscores a commitment to integrated healthcare and improved patient outcomes.
