The KCR project, a long-awaited initiative, aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Karachi and provide a reliable public transportation option for millions of commuters. Reviving the KCR is estimated to cost approximately ₨27 billion
(approximately $96 million USD as of Feb 27,2024) and will involve upgrading existing infrastructure and acquiring new rolling stock. The project is expected to handle approximately 500,000 passengers daily upon completion.
