The Prime Minister emphasized a commitment to ensure every worker is supported during this transition. In a social media post on X dated April 30, 2026, he detailed the government’s stance on the evolving nature of work:

With AI and new technologies, job roles will evolve. But one thing does not change: our commitment to support every worker – to adapt, upskill and move forward with confidence.

To facilitate this shift, a new tripartite council has been established to assist companies in transforming their operations while helping workers maintain their employment amid AI-driven disruptions.

Global Economic Pressures and Inflation

Beyond technological changes, Prime Minister Wong warned of the economic risks posed by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He noted that this instability is likely to cause persisting disruptions to supply chains and contribute to rising inflation.

Regarding these external pressures, the Prime Minister stated that Singapore will feel the impact directly.

National Resilience and Readiness

Despite the combined challenges of AI and geopolitical volatility, Prime Minister Wong asserted that Singapore can maintain quiet confidence in its future. He argued that the nation is not entering this period of uncertainty from a vulnerable state.
