Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of accelerating projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during a meeting with Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist party of China (IDCPC), on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Sharif expressed gratitude for China’s ongoing support of Pakistan and underscored the need for the timely execution of the next phase of CPEC initiatives to bolster economic relations between the two nations. This message came during a meeting where he also conveyed best wishes to President Xi Jinping,according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
