Mauricio Pochettino to Head US National Team
Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to head to the United States to sign a contract as the new head coach of the US national team.
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano’s report, Manager Pochettino will travel to the United States this week to finalize the contract. It is said that he has already signed a verbal contract a few weeks ago and has finalized negotiations on the details of the contract. An official announcement is expected to be made soon.
This will be Pochettino’s first experience as a national team coach. He has previously managed Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain, but failed to find a club job due to his recent downward slope.
The US team parted ways with former coach Gregg Berhalter after being eliminated in the group stage of the Copa America in July and has been looking for a capable coach to prepare for the World Cup in North America and Central America.
Pochettino has a World Cup to play at home in the United States, and he has the task of making the United States a competitive team before the tournament in two years.
