74-Year-Old Former Government Official on the Run After Raping 22-Year-Old Domestic Help in Kochi
Kochi, Kerala – A shocking case of rape has come to light in Kochi, where a 74-year-old former government official, Sivaprasad, has been accused of raping a 22-year-old domestic help. The incident occurred on October 15, when the victim, a tribal woman from Odisha, was working at Sivaprasad’s residence in Vaytila.
The victim, who has been working as a domestic help since the age of 12, had joined Sivaprasad’s household on October 4 with a monthly salary of Rs 15,000. According to the victim, Sivaprasad had molested her when no one was home, after mixing alcohol and juice. The incident took place just a day before Sivaprasad was to leave for a pilgrimage with his family.
After the incident, the victim informed her relative about the harassment, who then informed the CMID (Crime Branch). The police subsequently filed a complaint and conducted a medical examination, which revealed signs of torture.
Sivaprasad, who had worked in a high position in government public sector institutions, has gone into hiding. The accused has filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Ernakulam District Appellate Court.
