The incident, occurring Saturday night,August 9th,2025,stemmed from escalating tensions between supporters after Persis Solo took a 2-0 lead.
Match Day Chaos and Police Intervention
the riot erupted when Persis Solo supporters began taunting Manchester United fans, leading to a barrage of thrown bottles. Authorities quickly responded, with Pamekasan Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Hendra Eko Triyulianto, accompanied by personnel from the East Java Regional Police, deploying to the South Economic Tribune to quell the unrest.
“Initially, there was resistance from some supporters, but thankfully officers were able to disperse the crowd and restore order,” stated AKP Jupriadi of the Pamekasan Police.
Suspect Identified and Alcohol Involvement
Police identified and secured one individual, EWP (20), a resident of Ngabean Village, Jaten District, Karanganyar Regency, as a suspected instigator. Officers reported a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the suspect, and a plastic bottle containing liquor was recovered at the scene.
Initial questioning revealed the suspect may have been intoxicated, though he denies being a hardcore supporter actively seeking to provoke a conflict. Intelligence gathered suggests several Persis Solo supporters entered the Economic stands already under the influence of alcohol, contributing to the volatile atmosphere.
Calls for Calm and Consequences for Disorderly Conduct
Authorities are urging fans to exercise restraint and avoid being provoked during future matches. AKP Jupriadi emphasized that law enforcement will pursue legal action against anyone found to be disrupting public order.
“we appeal to the public and supporters to maintain order and support their teams responsibly,” he stated. ”Drinking alcohol can significantly increase aggression, and we will not tolerate behavior that threatens the safety and security of others.”
The incident has also prompted a reminder of Pamekasan Regency’s commitment to upholding religious and cultural values. Known as the “Salam Gate Earth,” Pamekasan actively discourages alcohol consumption to maintain social order and harmony within the community.
The Pamekasan police are continuing their inquiry and will pursue appropriate charges against the suspect. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for conflict at sporting events and the importance of responsible fan behavior.
