The Franklin Police Department in Tennessee is investigating claims made by actress Kirsten Storms that her phone was hacked. The investigation follows an allegation the 42-year-old General Hospital star shared publicly earlier this spring.

Custody Dispute and Restraining Order
The police investigation coincides with a legal battle between Storms and her ex-husband, Brandon Barash. Barash, 46, was granted a restraining order against Storms amid concerns regarding her mental health.
Barash, who was married to Storms from 2013 to 2016, filed for an emergency restraining order after alleging that Storms had exhibited concerning behavior. In his filing, Barash expressed worry for the well-being of their 12-year-old daughter, Harper Rose.
Court documents indicate that Barash’s concerns intensified after the former couple moved separately to Tennessee following their divorce. The filings note that Storms’ landlord sued her for eviction, and Barash described instability with housing
as a recurring theme
for the actress.
Barash claimed via his filing there were several issues that caused him
great concern of [Kirsten’s] ability to adequately care for the minor childand alleged Storms has hadrepeated episodes of melting down, being triggered, hearing things/voices that weren’t there.Brandon Barash, via legal filing
As part of his legal request, Barash asked the court to mandate a mental health evaluation for Storms. Currently, Storms is permitted supervised visitation with their daughter, and a judge is scheduled to review the status of the restraining order.
Health Struggles and Career Departure
The legal and personal turmoil follows a significant shift in Storms’ professional life. In July 2025, she announced on Instagram that she was stepping back from her role as Maxie on General Hospital, a character she had played intermittently since 2005.

Storms attributed her departure to personal and health issues, specifically revealing a serious medical diagnosis involving her brain.
I had a procedure done that weekend, where the doctor [threaded] a camera from my leg up to my brain, she explained, recalling how her doctors discovered an aneurysm on the right side of her brain.
Aneurysms, obviously, can be caused [by] stress. Brain cysts? I believe that is possible too.Kirsten Storms, via Instagram
Storms stated that these health revelations necessitated immediate changes in her lifestyle, including leaving Los Angeles to move to Tennessee.
It was clear I needed [to] change some things in my life ASAP. For my personal reasons, no longer living in Los Angeles was very important to me. The biggest reason for the move was Harper, but a lot of it was for my physical and mental health, and my overall happiness.
