Polish Police Face Internal Scrutiny Amidst Sexual Assault Allegations

Polish law enforcement is grappling with a series of disturbing allegations involving sexual misconduct by its officers. Recent reports detail both an ongoing investigation into a platoon commander in Warsaw and the fallout from a case in Piaseczno, raising serious questions about oversight and conduct within the force.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, authorities announced the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against a platoon commander from the IX Company of the Police Prevention Unit in Warsaw. The action follows allegations of serious breaches linked to a possible sexual offense against a female colleague. Currently, authorities are conducting interviews with both the complainant and the accused to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“say anything more beyond what has been said in the statement,” said Monika Kaleta, a staff sergeant with the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, in a conversation with Polsat News. “Currently, the circumstances of the case are being established. We are checking if, when and where this event took place.” Kaleta indicated that further information would not be available until at least the following Thursday.

This case follows closely on the heels of another troubling incident involving a 41-year-old officer in Piaseczno, near Warsaw. Earlier in January, the officer was formally charged with rape and forced sexual acts against a 22-year-old policewoman who was completing a three-month internship at the Warsaw Prevention Unit. He faces a potential prison sentence of two to fifteen years if convicted.

According to reports, the incident in Piaseczno involved an alcohol-fueled gathering with several other officers in the residential section of the prevention unit. The officer was immediately suspended from duty and placed under arrest pending further investigation. A disciplinary proceeding was also launched.

In a statement released by the Capital Police Headquarters, officials emphasized their commitment to supporting the alleged victim, stating that she was being provided with “all possible support, including psychological care.” The statement also revealed that an internal review was underway to assess the quality of supervisory oversight within the Warsaw Prevention Unit.

“The results of these activities may have an impact on any further disciplinary consequences for those responsible,” the statement read.

the Capital Police Commander initiated proceedings to dismiss the platoon commander in Piaseczno, who was reportedly present at the gathering and consumed alcohol with the officer accused of the assault.

The Polish police force is now under increased scrutiny as it navigates these sensitive and damaging allegations. The investigations are ongoing, and the outcomes could have significant repercussions for those involved and for the reputation of the force as a whole.
