A survey conducted by IBRiS for Rzeczpospolita and reported by Money.pl shows that 39.2 percent of respondents back expenditure cuts.

The debate arrives as the country confronts difficult fiscal choices driven by high energy costs and broader economic pressures.

State expenditures on social transfers reached 320 billion zlotys in the first half of the year. That massive outlay accounts for 42 percent of total budget spending, according to coverage from InfoHub24 citing Money.pl.

Divided Views on Closing the Fiscal Gap

Public opinion remains fractured on alternative methods for closing the fiscal gap. While the largest share of respondents favors curbing social programs, other options draw distinct levels of backing from the public.

Meanwhile, 16.8 percent favor reducing defense spending, and just 7 percent support financing the deficit through additional state borrowing.

Economic Risks of Spending and Tax Cuts

Significant cuts to healthcare, pensions, or family support could exacerbate social inequality. At the same time, reliance on tax increases risks dampening investment and slowing overall economic momentum across the country.
