Federal prosecutors have charged rapper Pooh Shiesty and eight other individuals in connection with the kidnapping and armed robbery of three men, including rapper Gucci Mane, at a Dallas music studio in January 2026.
Lontrell Williams Jr., known professionally as Pooh Shiesty, and Rodney Wright Jr., known as BIG30, are among those accused of orchestrating the incident. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Dallas, the motive for the attack was to force Williams out of his recording contract with New 1017 Records, a label owned by Radric Delantic Davis, known as Gucci Mane.
Details of the Studio Ambush
The confrontation occurred on January 10, 2026, after the three victims traveled to Dallas for what they believed was a business meeting. Federal indictments state that Williams Jr. Arranged the meeting to discuss the terms of his contract with 1017 Records.
Once the victims were inside the studio, Williams allegedly produced an AK-style
pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint. Other defendants present during the incident also displayed firearms and robbed the victims of cash, jewelry, and luxury watches, including Rolexes.
Prosecutors allege that the group blocked the victims from escaping. Rodney Wright Jr. Reportedly barricaded the studio door with his body to prevent Gucci Mane and the other victims from leaving the premises. During the encounter, one victim was reportedly choked to the point of near unconsciousness.
Investigation and Arrests
The Department of Justice described the event as a coordinated armed takeover
. Authorities used electronic monitoring and social media posts to link the suspects to the crime. At the time of the January incident, Williams Jr. Was already under federal home confinement following a prior firearms conspiracy conviction in Florida.
Eight of the nine suspects were arrested on April 1, 2026, in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee, as well as Dallas. Those arrested include Williams Jr. And his father, Lontrell Williams Sr., who is known in the Memphis music scene as Mob Boss

Contractual Context
Gucci Mane signed Williams Jr. To 1017 Records in 2020. Reports from 2024 indicated that Gucci Mane had released all artists under the label with the exception of Foogiano and Pooh Shiesty.
The federal indictment filed in the Northern District of Texas refers to the victims by their initials, though one victim, identified as R.D., is described as the owner of 1017 Records. Publicists for Gucci Mane did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and Williams Jr. Did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment.
