Federal prosecutors in Texas have charged rapper Pooh Shiesty and eight other individuals with the kidnapping and armed robbery of Grammy-nominated rapper Gucci Mane and two other music industry professionals.

The charges follow an investigation into an incident that occurred on January 10, 2026, at a recording studio in Dallas, Texas. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, the victims were targeted during a business meeting arranged by Pooh Shiesty.

The meeting was intended to discuss the terms of a recording contract between one of the victims and Pooh Shiesty, who is signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records label. Prosecutors allege the confrontation was the result of a contract dispute.

Details of the Studio Ambush

During the meeting on January 10, 2026, Pooh Shiesty allegedly produced an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from their recording contract. Other members of the group displayed firearms and robbed the victims of cash, jewelry, and other personal items.

The U.S. Department of Justice reports that Rodney Wright Jr., known professionally as Big30, barricaded the studio door to prevent the victims from escaping. During the ordeal, one victim was allegedly choked to the point of near unconsciousness.

At the time of the alleged crime, Pooh Shiesty was reportedly under home confinement in Florida.

Federal Arrests and Charges

On April 1, 2026, federal agents arrested eight of the nine suspects across Dallas, Memphis, and Nashville. The arrests were announced on April 2, 2026, by Ryan Raybould, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

The individuals charged in the case include:

  • Lontrell Williams Jr. (Pooh Shiesty)
  • Lontrell Williams Sr.
  • Rodney Wright Jr. (Big30)
  • Kedarius Waters
  • Terrance Rodgers
  • Damarian Gipson
  • Demarcus Glover
  • Kordae Johnson
  • Darrion McDaniel

The U.S. Attorney’s Office noted that Lontrell Williams Sr., the father of Pooh Shiesty, allegedly helped plan and execute the kidnapping.

While eight suspects are in custody, Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA reports that Terrance Rodgers has not yet been arrested.

Legal Consequences and Investigation

The defendants face severe federal penalties, with prosecutors stating they could face up to life in prison if convicted of the charges.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving several agencies. These include the FBI Dallas Violent Crimes Task Force, the FBI’s Memphis Resident Agency, the Nashville Field Office, and the Memphis Safe Task Force. Local support was provided by the Dallas Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the Western and Middle Districts of Tennessee.

Gucci Mane, the founder of 1017 Records and a pioneer of trap music, was one of the primary targets of the ambush. Representatives for Pooh Shiesty were unavailable for comment at the time of the initial reports, and outreach to representatives for Gucci Mane and Big30 has been initiated.
