Biographical Data
Born in Savona, Italy, in 1960, Archbishop Pioppo holds a Doctorate in Dogmatic theology. He was ordained and incardinated into the Diocese of Acqui Terme, Italy, in 1985.
He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1993, gaining experience in Korea, Chile, and within the secretariat of State. From 2006 to 2010, he served as Prelate of the Institute for the Works of religion.
On January 25, 2010, he was appointed Titular Archbishop of Torcello and Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, receiving Episcopal Ordination in March of the same year. He was subsequently appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Indonesia in September 2017, with the additional duty of representing the Holy See to ASEAN the following year.
