January 9, 2026 Robert Mitchell - News Editor of Newsdirectory3.com News

Shooting‍ in Portland Heightens Tensions with Federal Government

A shooting involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ⁣agents in Portland,Oregon,is intensifying⁢ already strained relations between the city and the federal government. The incident occurred ‌amid a recent ⁢attempt by former President Donald Trump to‌ deploy National Guard troops to the city, which ultimately‌ failed.

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson condemned‍ the ‍shooting and called on ICE to halt all operations in Portland pending a⁤ thorough investigation. “We cannot stand by as constitutional protections erode and bloodshed increases,” Wilson stated.

“Portland is not a ‘training ground’ for militarized ⁣agents, and the threat of ‘maximum force’ with which the government threatens has deadly consequences.⁣ federal militarization undermines ‍effective community public⁤ safety and contradicts the values that define our region.”

Shooting Follows Incident in‍ Minneapolis

The shooting took place just 24 hours after a woman died in minneapolis following a shooting involving an ⁤ICE agent. Details surrounding that ‌incident remain under investigation.

Note: As of january 9, 2026, investigations into both shootings are ongoing.Further updates will be provided ⁣as they become available.
