New Delhi: Several post offices across Delhi will be temporarily closed on Monday, July 21, 2025, as the Department of Posts undertakes a meaningful digital transformation. The affected post offices include Pragati Vihar, Pratap Market, Pushp Vihar, Sadiq Nagar, Safdarjung Airport, Saket, Sant Nagar, Sarvodya Enclave, South Malviya Nagar (multiple branches), Sriniwaspuri, and Jeevan Nagar BO.

The Department of Posts has outlined that the temporary suspension of services is essential to facilitate a seamless and secure transition to a new, advanced digital platform. This process involves critical steps such as data migration, system validations, and configuration.
“To enable a seamless and secure transition to the advanced digital platform, a planned downtime has been scheduled on 21.07.2025. No public transactions will be carried out at above Post Offices on 21.07.2025,” stated the department in a press release.”This temporary suspension of services is necessary to facilitate data migration, system validations, and configuration processes, ensuring that the new system goes live smoothly and efficiently.”

How to Open an Account in a Post Office and Its Requirements?
To open an account in various Small Savings Schemes such as the Savings Account (SB), recurring Deposit (RD), Time Deposit (TD), Monthly income Scheme (MIS), and Senior Citizen Savings Scheme (SCSS), individuals need to complete an Account opening Form (AOF). This form, along with necessary KYC (Know Your Customer) documents and a deposit slip (SB 103), must be submitted at the chosen Post Office.
What are Late Payment Fees for Recurring Deposits?
For Recurring Deposit (RD) accounts, the monthly installment payment schedule is as follows: accounts opened between the 1st and 15th of the month require deposits to be credited by the 15th, while accounts opened between the 16th and the last day of the month must have their deposits credited by the last day of the month. Failure to credit the monthly installment results in a default. Defaulted months can be subsequently paid with a revival fee. The revival fee for a INR 100 denomination account is Re. 1 for each month of default.A maximum of four defaults are permitted.
