Potomac School Panthers Shine: Three Players Named All-State in Girls Tennis
Potomac School Tennis Team Excels in All-State Selections
The Potomac School Panthers girls tennis team had a remarkable season, highlighted by the selection of three players to the Division I all-state teams. Juniors Riece Grimes-Thomas and Riley Williams earned first-team honors, while sophomore Taylor Shen was named to the second team.
The Panthers finished the season with a 15-3 overall record, securing the No. 1 Division I state ranking and the top seed in the state tournament. The team reached the finals but lost to second-seed Collegiate of Richmond. In the state tournament, the Panthers won two out of three matches, defeating Norfolk Catholic 5-1 and St. Catherine’s 5-0.
During the season, Williams played No. 1 singles, achieving a record of 15-3. Grimes-Thomas, at No. 2, had an 11-5 record, and Shen, at No. 3, finished 13-3. Coach Chris Caskin praised the players for their outstanding contributions to the team’s success.
Additionally, Mary Cremers from Oakcrest School was named second-team all-state.
