Daehan Electric Wire Secures 90 Billion Won Order for Silicon Valley Power Grid Project

Daehan Electric Wire, a leading electric wire manufacturer, has been selected as the cable supplier for the 320kV voltage-type ultra-high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission and 500kV HVAC projects in the United States.

The project, commissioned by LS Power Grid California, aims to improve the reliability of the power grid in Northern California, particularly in Silicon Valley and San Jose. The region has seen a surge in demand for electricity due to the growth of AI-related businesses and advanced IT companies.

This year, Daehan Electric Wire has secured new orders worth a total of 610 billion won, marking its best performance ever. The company’s entry into the U.S. HVDC market is a significant milestone, as HVDC is a key technology for long-distance large-scale power transmission.

The voltage-type HVDC ordered by Daehan Electric Wire is becoming a global trend due to its ease of installation and two-way transmission capabilities. It can also be applied to renewable energy generation, such as wind and solar power.

Daehan Electric Wire has developed a 525kV voltage-type HVDC cable system that applies a 90℃ allowable temperature to a 3000SQ(㎟) cross-sectional area, a first in Korea. This achievement demonstrates the company’s advanced technology in the HVDC field.

Daehan Electric Wire’s success in securing this order is a testament to its commitment to innovation and excellence in the electric wire industry.
