Interestingly, Gus Ipul has reportedly reached out to Romy to inquire about his name being mentioned within the PPP.
“I have received information from various WhatsApp groups I’m part of within the United Development party. At least four names have surfaced – two from within the party and two from outside,” Romy explained.
He emphasized that the PPP is not closing its doors to external candidates, as long as they possess the necessary qualities to lead the party effectively.
PPP Leaders Call for ‘Repentance’ After Failing to Secure Parliamentary Seats
Jakarta, Indonesia – Following a disappointing election result that saw the United Development party (PPP) fail to secure any seats in the Indonesian parliament, party leaders are calling for a period of introspection and renewal.
Romahurmuziy, a prominent PPP figure, urged all members of the party’s central executive board (DPP) to engage in “taubatan nasuhah,” a term signifying sincere repentance and seeking forgiveness. This call comes after the PPP, a party wiht a long history in Indonesian politics, failed to win any seats in the House of Representatives (DPR) for the first time in its 11 election cycles.
“This ‘taubatan nasuhah’ is directed at the entire DPP,” Romahurmuziy stated. “Because this is the first time in 11 elections that PPP has not entered the DPR.”
He emphasized the need for the DPP to publicly apologize to party members and supporters across Indonesia for failing to secure parliamentary representation.
Looking ahead, Romahurmuziy stressed the importance of preparing new cadres and welcoming potential new leaders to revitalize the PPP. This call for change comes amidst speculation about potential leadership shifts within the party, with several prominent figures expressing interest in leading the PPP into the future.
