President Prabowo Arrives in Cairo for D-8 Summit, Meets with Egyptian Officials
Cairo, Egypt – President Prabowo Subianto touched down in Cairo late Tuesday evening, marking the beginning of his official visit to Egypt. He was greeted at cairo International airport by a delegation of high-ranking Egyptian officials, including Minister of state for Military Production Major General Muhammad Solah, Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Yasser Hassan Elshemy, Indonesian Ambassador to Cairo Lutfi Rauf, and Defense Attaché Colonel Dafris D Syafruddin.
A red carpet and an honor guard awaited President Prabowo as he disembarked the aircraft. Dressed in a brown safari suit and black fez, he returned the salute of the honor guard.
This visit comes at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. President Prabowo’s primary objective is to attend the Developing-8 (D-8) Summit, a forum for economic cooperation among eight nations: Indonesia, bangladesh, Iran, Malaysia, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
“In the current global climate, I believe the D-8 Summit is a crucial event,” President Prabowo stated before his departure. “especially considering Indonesia will assume the D-8 chairmanship starting January 1,2026,my presence hear is of utmost importance.”
Following the summit,President Prabowo is scheduled to make a brief stop in Malaysia to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim before returning to Indonesia.

“President Prabowo sees the D-8 Summit as a platform to advance Indonesia’s economic interests, notably as Indonesia prepares to assume the D-8 chairmanship in 2026,” Yusron stated.
The Developing-8 (D-8) Summit brings together eight nations: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. Following the summit, President Prabowo will travel to Malaysia for a meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim before returning to Indonesia.
