Arrival in Doha and Official Welcome
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Doha, Qatar, on Friday at 3:20 p.m. local time, September 11, 2024, to meet with the Emir of Qatar, his highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The visit follows a recent Israeli airstrike in Doha.
Upon arrival at Hamad International Airport, President Prabowo was greeted by Qatar’s Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Bin Hassan Bin Ali Al-thani, Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Ridwan Hassan, and Indonesian Defense Attaché Colonel Tengku Sony Sonatha. A guard of honor was presented before the President departed for Lusail Palace.
Demonstrating Support After Airstrike

Wijaya emphasized the speed of the President’s response as a demonstration of Indonesia’s solidarity with Qatar following the Israeli airstrike on Tuesday,September 9,2024.
“His visit is a clear demonstration of Indonesia’s support for the government and people of Qatar,” Wijaya stated.
Prior to the visit, on Wednesday, september 10, 2024, President Prabowo spoke with sheikh Tamim by phone, expressing concern over the incident and reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to Qatar’s sovereignty and regional peace.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Beyond addressing regional tensions, the meeting between President Prabowo and Sheikh Tamim focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar. The visit is anticipated to reinforce the longstanding relationship between the two nations and their collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges.
