Prabowo Subianto Announces 2,200 New Homes for Highland⁣ Papua, Prioritizing Indigenous Communities

president Prabowo subianto has⁤ directed teh immediate construction of 2,200 housing units across eight districts in ⁣the newly established Highland⁣ Papua province, signaling a ‌significant commitment ⁢to improving living standards and fostering‍ social equity in the ⁣region. The initiative prioritizes both the general public and traditional tribal leaders,⁤ aiming to provide access to ⁢healthy and sanitary housing for ‌all residents.

Presidential Focus on Highland Papua’s Progress

Highland Papua⁣ Governor John Tabo emphasized the President’s dedicated ‍attention to the new autonomous regions (DOBs) in Papua, wiht Highland‌ Papua province receiving particular focus. ‌”The President is giving grate attention through the construction of‍ 2,200 decent housing units for Highland papua province,” Governor Tabo stated on Friday.

This direct intervention from President Prabowo underscores a proactive approach to addressing housing needs, bypassing the typical ⁢proposal process through district heads and the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas. “We would like to⁣ emphasize that the ⁢assistance of 2,200 housing units‍ was not part of the district heads’ proposals… but is truly a direct contribution from the President,” ⁣Tabo clarified.

Housing‍ Distribution and Project Details

The housing project, spearheaded by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, will encompass two distinct types of units:

2,000 ⁢Type 45 Homes: These homes are designated for the general public and will be‌ distributed based on the population ⁣size of each district.‍ This ensures equitable access to improved housing across the province.
200 Units for ⁣Tribal Chiefs: Recognizing the vital role of traditional leadership in Highland ‌Papua,⁢ 200 units are specifically allocated for tribal chiefs within the eight targeted districts. ‌This ⁣demonstrates respect for ⁣indigenous⁤ culture and empowers community leaders.

The ‍eight districts‌ set to benefit from this‍ initiative are Jayawijaya, Lanny Jaya, Tolikara, Yalimo, Central mamberamo, Nduga, Bintang Mountains, and Yahukimo. Development proposals from these districts are currently under ⁣review by ⁣the central government⁣ to ensure efficient and effective implementation.

Aligning with National Goals of Social Justice

The initiative aligns with⁣ the broader‍ national agenda of social justice, as articulated by Minister‌ of Housing and Settlement Areas, ‍Maruarar Sirait. Sirait previously stated the importance of ⁣evenly distributing subsidized housing throughout⁤ Indonesia,‌ ensuring that all citizens‌ have access to decent living conditions. This project in Highland Papua is a concrete example of that commitment in action. This investment in housing is expected to have a ripple effect, improving public health, ⁣boosting‍ local economies, and fostering a stronger sense of community within Highland Papua.the provision of safe and sanitary housing is a foundational step towards sustainable development and improved quality of life for the province’s residents.
