Prabowo Subianto Attends NU’s 1st Century Mujahadah in Malang | Latest Updates

Malang, Indonesia – President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Malang, East Java, Saturday evening, ahead of Sunday’s Mujahadah Kubro, a large-scale religious event commemorating the 100th anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Indonesia’s largest independent Muslim organization.

President Subianto landed at Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport in Malang at 6:42 PM local time (18:42 WIB) aboard the presidential aircraft, according to reports from the Presidential Press Bureau. He was greeted upon arrival by the Chairman of the Central Executive Board of NU (PBNU), KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, commonly known as Gus Yahya.

The President is scheduled to attend a series of meetings Saturday night before participating in the Mujahadah Kubro on Sunday morning at Gajayana Stadium. Organizers anticipate over 100,000 attendees from across Indonesia will participate in the event.

The Mujahadah Kubro is seen as a powerful symbol of NU’s strength and a reflection of its role as a socio-religious force within the nation. President Subianto’s presence is viewed as a demonstration of the state’s commitment to fostering synergy between the government and religious leaders in maintaining social stability and promoting national progress amidst global challenges.

Gus Yahya noted on social media that the President’s attendance signifies a strong partnership to guide Indonesia towards a more noble civilization. “The presence of the Head of State among the Nahdliyin is a strong symbol of synergy to oversee an independent Indonesia towards a more noble civilization,” he wrote.

Accompanying President Subianto are several key officials, including MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Head of Government Communication and Public Information Angga Raka Prabowo, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono.

Officials who saw the President off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta included Pangdam Jaya Major General TNI Deddy Suryadi, Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, and Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base Commander Air Marshal TNI Erwin Sugiandi.

The arrival of President Subianto comes as preparations are underway to accommodate the large influx of attendees. The City of Malang and the East Java Provincial Government are coordinating closely to ensure the smooth running of the event, including managing potential traffic congestion. Support for the event has also been expressed by other religious organizations, including Muhammadiyah, and local churches, demonstrating a spirit of interfaith cooperation.
