Prairie View A&M University Fires Head Football Coach

Prairie View, Texas (November 6, 2024) – Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) will not renew head football coach Leonard McDowell’s contract. McDowell has led the Panthers since 2022.

Athletic Director Anton Goff thanked McDowell for his leadership and support of student-athletes. “Coach McDowell’s commitment to our students’ success is admirable,” he stated.

Goff emphasized that the university will focus on finding a head coach with strong vision and leadership skills. PVAMU will start a nationwide search for McDowell’s replacement immediately.

Ashton Green, the assistant head coach, will take over as interim head coach.
