Latvian music sensation Prāta Vētra has released their latest single, “Pirmajā dienā,” marking the first track from their upcoming studio album slated for release in April. The song debuted on radio stations and digital streaming platforms on March 7th.
“Pirmajā Dienā”: A Cosmic Tale
“Pirmajā dienā” tells “satriecošs stāsts par zvaigznēs ierakstītu satikšanos, no kuras izbēgt nevar pat pēc vairāku dienu ceļojuma cauri galaktikām” (“a stunning story about a meeting written in the stars, from which one cannot escape even after traveling through galaxies for several days”). The song was conceived during creative sessions in Barcelona and recorded in Stockholm under the guidance of producer Povel Olsson. David Larson, guitarist from the Swedish band ”The Royal Concept,” also contributed to the song’s creation, having previously collaborated with the band on the album ”Par to zēnu, kas sit skārda bungas” (“About the boy who plays the tin drums”).
Out-of-this-World Music Video
The music video for “Pirmajā dienā” is directed by the band’s drummer, Kaspars Roga. The concept came to him spontaneously:
“Paldies mūzām! Sēdēju saulainā Barselonas kafejnīcā un ideja atnāca pati no sevis – varbūt jābrauc kosmosā! Uzrakstīju visu uz papīra, parādīju draugiem un sapratām – ir īstais, jāfilmē.”
Kaspars Roga, Prāta Vētra Drummer
(“Thanks to the muses! I was sitting in a sunny Barcelona cafe and the idea came to me - maybe we should go to space! I wrote everything down on paper, showed it to my friends and we realized - it’s the real thing, we have to film it.”)
The video was filmed in a studio in Riga and produced by “film naked.” Laura Dišlere, an artist and “Lielā Kristapa” award winner, oversaw the artistic design, while Līva Drešere created the visual imagery, and Kaspars Murelis handled the 3D animation.
Roga humorously recounts the filming experience:
“Klipu filmējām divas dienas studijā, kur bija uzbūvēts īsts kosmosa kuģis, kuru rekvizitori enerģiski kratīja un šūpoja, mums traucoties cauri galaktikām. Kā izrādās, visi esam lieliski aktieri – visapkārt bija zilais ekrāns, nācās iztēloties gan mūsu konkurentu “Bermudu Divstūra” lidaparātu, gan keikas kosmosa kuģu placi. Īpašu filmēšanas komandas sajūsmu izpelnījās aina, kurā andris Keišs un viņa četrkājainais draugs, suns Šašliks,pārdod galaktikas ceļotājiem lidaparātu.”
Kaspars Roga, Prāta Vētra Drummer
(“we filmed the video for two days in a studio where a real spaceship was built, which the prop guys vigorously shook and rocked as we hurtled through the galaxies. As it turns out,we are all great actors - all around was a blue screen,we had to imagine both our competitor “Bermudu Divstūris” aircraft, and Keika’s spaceship site. the filming team was especially delighted by the scene in which Andris Keišs and his four-legged friend, dog Šašliks, sell aircraft to galaxy travelers.”)
