Renowned Egyptian artist Ilham Shaheen’s recent statement about prayer has ignited a heated debate. Dr. Saud Saleh, a preacher and professor of comparative jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University, has responded to Shaheen’s comments, sparking a wider discussion.
During an interview on the “Details” program on “Sada El Balad 2” channel, Dr. Saud Saleh expressed his surprise at Shaheen’s statement, saying, “I am astonished by the statement that when a person undertakes to obey God and pray, because a person is not guaranteed how long he will live. We all know that life span is in the hands of God, but it is considered a form of mockery and mockery.”
“He who transgresses the limits of Allah wrongs himself.”
Dr. Saleh further emphasized, “I say to the writer of this quote, how old are you and you are still so far from decency that you have no right to belittle someone who meets a legitimate need? Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be admitted to Paradise and conversely whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger will remain there forever. Allah’s limit, and whoever transgresses Allah’s limit is wronged by himself.”
Regarding Shaheen’s clarification that the doctor does not leave his work during prayers, Dr. Saleh questioned, “Is it normal for me that the doctor who is operating stands and the director who directs and distributes the characters?”
Ilham Shaheen: “I will not change my mind”
In a viral clip, Ilham Shaheen expressed her concerns about the growing conservatism in society, stating, “Society has become very conservative… and many artists are influenced by these ideas.” She shared an experience with a director who would stop filming during prayer, causing delays in the production.

In response to the backlash, Ilham Shaheen stated, ”My opinion has not changed since recording this broadcast clip, and I can see that finish the work and then pray, but do not interrupt the work for prayer (…) prayer In your house or mosque.”
Shaheen also accused the ”Muslim Brotherhood” of being behind the attack, saying, “The Brotherhood is now behind the publication of this video… There is a clear Brotherhood campaign behind the release of the video, and it is clear that they are tired and very busy with me and my opinion… and my name being sold to them.”
