Updated May 31, 2025
Luke Humphries claimed a hard-fought 6-5 victory over Luke Littler in Leeds, securing his first Premier League nightly win in 10 weeks. The world number one, clad in a Leeds United-inspired shirt, overcame a slow start to defeat Littler in a tense final.
Humphries, 30, had last tasted victory against Littler on night four in Exeter. Despite Littler initially taking control, humphries rallied, winning three consecutive legs to establish a 5-3 lead. Both players showcased moments of brilliance mixed with errors, leading to a final-leg decider.
Ultimately, Humphries held his nerve, hitting double 10 to seal the victory in the Premier League, after both players missed opportunities to close out the match with bull finishes.
“When you know you’re playing against Luke Littler you know you’re not going to get away with mid-game performances, you need to be at your best to beat him,” Humphries told Sky Sports. “We weren’t at our best but it was a decent final and I do seem to raise my performance against him.”
Earlier in the night, Humphries defeated Stephen Bunting 6-4 in the semi-finals, while Littler secured his place in the final with a 6-3 victory over Gerwyn Price. Humphries’ quarter-final win over Michael van Gerwen also confirmed his spot at the Premier league finals night on May 29 at the O2 Arena.
What’s next
With his victory in Leeds, Humphries hopes to carry the momentum forward and capture the elusive Premier League crown he has always dreamed of.
