Queensland Premier David Crisafulli and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie have declined to disclose whether they have received their annual influenza vaccination, despite the state experiencing one of its worst flu seasons in recent years.
Both leaders stated that their vaccination status is a private matter between themselves and their doctors when asked directly by reporters in August 2025. Premier Crisafulli made the comment on Monday, August 11, 2025, while Deputy Premier Bleijie reiterated the position the following day, stating that whether he had been vaccinated was “between me and my doctor.”
This refusal comes as Queensland Health reports fewer than one-third of residents have received their flu jab for the 2025 season. Infectious diseases physician Paul Griffin warned that vaccination uptake remains among the lowest in the country for certain age groups, contributing to a surge in cases.
