Interscope-Capitol will release a premium, all-analog, 180-gram One-Step vinyl reissue of Billy Idol’s 1983 album Rebel Yell on November 20. Pre-orders for the limited-edition pressing are currently available.
The upcoming release is restricted to 3,000 numbered copies. Each unit will be housed in a gatefold jacket and slipcase, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that details the specific mastering, plating, and pressing chain used for the production. The audio for this reissue was mastered from the original analog tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
Historical Context of the Album
Originally released on November 10, 1983, Rebel Yell served as the second solo album for the former Generation X frontman. The project, produced by Keith Forsey with guitar work by Steve Stevens, was instrumental in establishing Idol as a major star. The album achieved significant commercial success, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and earning double platinum certification in the United States.

The record produced several notable hits that became staples on radio and MTV. “Eyes Without a Face” reached No. 4 on the Hot 100, marking Idol’s first U.S. Top 10 single. The title track and “Flesh for Fantasy” also saw widespread rotation.
Reissue Tracklist
The reissue features the original tracklist spread across two sides:
- Side A: Rebel Yell, Daytime Drama, Eyes Without a Face, Blue Highway
- Side B: Flesh for Fantasy, Catch My Fall, Crank Call, (Do Not) Stand in the Shadows, The Dead Next Door
While the album saw numerous international pressings upon its initial 1983 release, including versions in Canada, Europe, Australia, and South Korea, this new One-Step edition represents a specialized, limited run for collectors.
