Pressman Film Launches Groundbreaking Equity Investment for New Movie Slate
Pressman Film, founded by Edward Pressman, is a notable indie producer known for films like Wall Street and American Psycho. The company has launched its first film financing slate on the investment platform Republic.
The offering started on September 5 and aims to raise $1.5 million to develop at least six projects. It has already exceeded $1.7 million and may attract more investments before it closes.
Unlike crowdfunding, this initiative provides equity investment opportunities for 295 investors. Pressman Film promises competitive returns if projects go into production. Investors can benefit from a share of the net profits and other milestones.
Paula Paizes, COO of Pressman Film, stated, “This is a way to get our fans and our audience to participate with us.” Investments can range from $200 to $1 million, allowing more people to join in than typical private or accredited investments.
Some upcoming projects will be based on existing intellectual property from the Pressman catalog, including potential remakes of films like The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968), Sisters (1972), and Old Boyfriends (1979). The company is open to new ideas and will consider fresh intellectual property.
Sam Pressman, CEO, emphasized this as a special chance for film lovers to invest in movies and gain inside access to filmmaking. He noted the importance of innovation in today’s changing entertainment landscape.
Pressman Film will hold quarterly Zoom calls for investors to provide updates and answer questions. The company has produced over 100 films and has contributed to the careers of many actors and directors.
Future projects include a remake of American Psycho with Lionsgate. Additionally, Pressman Film recently released an AI hybrid documentary, About A Hero, which debuted at IDFA in Amsterdam.
Last summer, Pressman Film also expanded into television development, collaborating with various producers and writers in the industry.
Republic is a financial firm that connects investors with diverse investment opportunities. Founded in 2016, it has a significant global presence and has successfully funded thousands of companies.
Paizes remarked on the importance of community engagement in reaching out to potential investors through social media and digital marketing.
