The message from doctors like Eckart von Hirschhausen is gaining weight: The health of the brain must be protected today. While drug research is progressing, the greatest hope lies in advance. A healthy lifestyle can delay or even prevent the onset of alzheimer’s and other dementias.
The numbers from DZNE are impressive. If the most vital risk factors were reduced by 15 percent, around 170,000 cases could be avoided by 2050. With a reduction of 30 percent,it woudl be over 330,000.
