Preventive Zone Established in Quintana Roo as Tropical Storm Sara Approaches
Title: Prevention Zone Established in Quintana Roo Due to Tropical Storm Sara
The tropical storm Sara is moving toward Belize and the Yucatán Peninsula. In response, the Mexican government has set up a prevention zone in the southeast of the country, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN) of Mexico.
In the latest weather update at 3:00 PM Central Time, the storm was located 45 kilometers southwest of Isla Guanaja, Honduras, and 325 kilometers south-southeast of Puerto Costa Maya, Quintana Roo. Sara has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 100 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving slowly west at 4 kilometers per hour.
Given the storm’s proximity, the National Water Commission (Conagua) has collaborated with the U.S. National Hurricane Center to establish a prevention zone. This zone covers the area from Puerto Costa Maya to Chetumal in southern Quintana Roo.
