Updated June 12, 2025
Primavera Sound 2025 in Barcelona was headlined by a trio of artists: Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan. The festival, known for its animated and fun atmosphere, saw standout performances across various genres.
Waxahatchee, fronted by Katie Crutchfield, played songs from her album, Tigers Blood, at the CUPRA Pulse Stage. Wolf Alice incorporated snippets of “Seven Nation Army” and “Iron Man” into their song “Giant Peach,” before closing with “Don’t delete the Kisses.”
HAIM’s set at the Revolut Stage included hits like “The Wire,” “Want You Back,” and “Summer Girl,” but their stage banter was criticized as unoriginal. Beach House provided a hypnotic transition into the evening with songs like “Lazuli” and “Silver Soul.”
Sabrina Carpenter’s polished pop songs and captivating stage presence made her performance a highlight. Her set included ”Taste,” “Bed Chem” (with a “Pony” interpolation), and a cover of “It’s Raining Men.” “Espresso” was a crowd favourite.
Chappell Roan’s performance, notably “Pink Pony Club,” was a standout moment. Roan told the crowd she was “on the verge of tears multiple times on stage,” adding she would “never forget this.”
Other notable acts included SALEM, Floating Points, and Danny L Harle, whose set was tailored for a 5 a.m. crowd. Fontaines D.C.’s set was mixed, with singer Grian Chatten’s pitch varying, though they closed with “Starburster” and a message of solidarity.
Aminé delivered an engaging set, including his song “Spice Girl.” Confidence Man’s performance created an after-hours club atmosphere. Turnstile’s hardcore set, featuring tracks from their albums NEVER ENOUGH and GLOW ON, provided a contrast to the festival’s pop-centric focus.
The festival concluded with Danny L Harle DJing at the CUPRA Pulse Stage as the sun rose.
