Berlin – – Prime Video has announced a global launch date of for The House of the Spirits, its first Spanish-language television adaptation of Isabel Allende’s celebrated novel. The announcement was made today at the 76th Berlinale Film Festival, where three episodes of the eight-part series were previewed.
The series, described by Prime Video as its “most ambitious Latin American original to date,” spans half a century and centers on three generations of women – Clara, Blanca and Alba – navigating a conservative South American country grappling with class struggle, political upheaval, and elements of magical realism. The adaptation aims to bring Allende’s internationally acclaimed story to a wider audience, reaching over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The House of the Spirits boasts a prominent cast led by Alfonso Herrera (Rebel Moon) as Esteban Trueba. Nicole Wallace (Our Fault) and Dolores Fonzi (Belén) share the role of Clara del Valle at different stages of her life. Rounding out the ensemble are Fernanda Castillo (The Lord of the Skies) as Férula, Aline Kuppenheim (A Fantastic Woman) as Nivea del Valle, Eduard Fernández (The Skin I Live In) as Severo del Valle, Sara Becker (The Movie Teller), and Fernanda Urrejola (Cry Macho) as Blanca. Also featured are Rochi Hernández as Alba, Juan Pablo Raba (News of a Kidnapping) as Tío Marcos, Pablo Macaya (In Her Place), and Nicolás Contreras (Baby Bandito) as Pedro Tercero.
The series benefits from a strong creative team, with Isabel Allende herself serving as an executive producer, alongside Eva Longoria and Courtney Saladino. Showrunners include Francisca Alegría, Fernanda Urrejola, and Andrés Wood.
Production is handled by FilmNation Entertainment, the company behind recent Academy Award-winning films Anora and Conclave, with support from Fabula, the Chilean production company responsible for The Eternal Memory and A Fantastic Woman. This collaboration signals a significant investment in Latin American storytelling by Prime Video, positioning The House of the Spirits as a key offering within its expanding library of international originals.
