Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko Discuss Future Plans and Upcoming Visit to Turkey
Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko held a press conference on November 25 at the Akasaka East Residence in Tokyo. They announced plans for an official visit to Turkey from December 3 to 8. This visit marks the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkey.
When asked about their son, Prince Hisahito, and the possibility of him studying abroad, Prince Akishino expressed hope for this opportunity. He mentioned that Hisahito has shown interest in living overseas for more education.
During the press conference, Prince Akishino highlighted Turkey’s significance in the Middle East. He spoke of the strong friendship between Japan and Turkey, stating, “It is a pleasure to visit a country with a long history between both nations.” He also recalled his visit to the Grand Bazaar during a trip as Crown Prince in 2009.
Princess Kiko added her hopes for continued friendly relations between Japan and Turkey. This trip aims to further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
