Prince Andrew Arrested: UK Police Investigate Royal Over Misconduct Claims

by Ahmed Hassan - World News Editor

Norfolk, United Kingdom – Former Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on Thursday, , on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest, carried out by Thames Valley Police, follows revelations stemming from the release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

King Charles III responded to the news with a statement expressing “deepest concern” and affirming his commitment to due process. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities,” the King said. He added, “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

The arrest took place at Wood Farm, a residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where Mountbatten-Windsor has been staying. Six unmarked police vehicles were observed arriving at the property shortly after 8 a.m. Local time. Police also conducted searches at Royal Lodge, his former residence on the Windsor estate near London.

Thames Valley Police confirmed in a statement that a man in his sixties from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Searches are ongoing at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. The police have not publicly named the individual, citing standard procedures.

The investigation was prompted by claims that Mountbatten-Windsor shared confidential government information with the late Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a British trade envoy. These claims emerged from a recent release of documents by the U.S. Department of Justice, known as the “Epstein files.”

Mountbatten-Windsor, who turned 66 on Thursday, had been residing temporarily at Wood Farm while awaiting the completion of renovations at Marsh Farm, another property on the Sandringham estate. The renovations were expected to be finished in April.

This marks the first time Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection with his relationship with Epstein, stating he had no knowledge of any criminal activity. He has also denied allegations of sexual misconduct.

The potential offense of misconduct in public office carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment in the United Kingdom. The investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear what specific charges, if any, Mountbatten-Windsor may face.

The arrest comes after an anti-royal organization called for police to investigate the documents indicating that Andrew shared confidential government information with Epstein. The Thames Valley Police force confirmed just over a week ago that it was assessing the claims to determine whether a formal investigation was warranted.

The King’s statement indicated the support of the Prince and Princess of Wales for the investigation. He emphasized the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold without interference. “While this process continues, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on this matter,” he stated. “In the meantime, my family and I will continue to carry out our duties and serve you all.”

Labour MP has called for the police to re-open a criminal investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
