A new Channel 5 documentary, “Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations,” suggests Prince Harry may have signaled his intention to step back from royal duties to Meghan Markle in late 2018, a full two years before the couple officially announced thier departure.

The documentary features a clip of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex engaged in a private conversation moments before attending a Remembrance Sunday service in November 2018. forensic lip reader Nicola Hickling claims to have deciphered their exchange, revealing a conversation that hints at a pre-existing plan for their future outside the Royal Family.

A Cryptic Exchange Before Remembrance Sunday

During the service, Harry and Meghan were observed in deep discussion.According to Hickling’s interpretation, Meghan’s initial words to Harry were, “Take advantage of the situation.” Harry’s response was, “Today?” to which Meghan allegedly replied, “Do it tonight.”

The conversation then appears to escalate, wiht Harry leaning in to tell Meghan, “You do realize that this is the end?” Meghan’s reported reply was, “Yes, I do know.” This alleged exchange, if accurate, suggests that the couple had already contemplated and perhaps even decided upon their eventual departure from royal life at this early stage.

Stepping Back and Settling in California

The Sussexes’ official declaration of their decision to step back as senior royals came in January 2020. As then, they have established a new life in Montecito, California. While they have made occasional visits back to the UK, particularly for significant royal events, a reconciliation with the wider Royal Family appears unlikely in the immediate future.

Their last joint appearance on British soil was in September 2022, following the passing of queen Elizabeth II.
