Princess Leonor Begins Military Aviation Training in Spain
Spanish Crown Princess Leonor, 23, has begun her training at the Aviation Academy in San Javier, Spain, according to a report by Hola! magazine, published september 1, 2025. She previously completed her high school studies at Atlantic College in Wales, Britain.
This isn’t Leonor’s first visit to the San Javier air base. Hola! recalled a previous visit eight years ago when her father was not yet king, and they commemorated the anniversary of his military training.
Rigorous Training schedule
Princess Leonor will adhere to the same standards as other students at the Aviation Academy, encompassing training in aviation, naval operations, and ground forces. The daily schedule includes a 6:30 AM wake-up call, school concluding around 6:00 PM, and a curfew of 10:30 PM. Students are permitted to return home on weekends.
Pilot Training and Satellite Project
The training curriculum includes piloting aircraft and participation in a collaborative project to build a mini-satellite, slated for orbital launch by the end of 2026, as reported by El País. Leonor possesses the necessary physical attributes – height and good vision – to qualify as a pilot. Instructors anticipate she will begin flying with supervision within a month, with the possibility of solo flights around Christmas.
