Princeton Women’s Lightweight Rowing Wins Class of 2015 Cup Over Stanford

The #2 Princeton University women’s lightweight rowing team won the Class of 2015 Cup against #7 Stanford on April 11, 2026. The competition took place Saturday morning in Redwood Shores, California.

Princeton secured the trophy by winning two of the three contested races. In the 8+ event, the Tigers finished with a time of 6:56.9, crossing the finish line ahead of the Cardinal, who recorded a time of 7:04.4.

The Tigers also earned a victory in the 4+ race, finishing in 7:59.75 compared to Stanford’s 8:09.31. Stanford won the 2x race with a time of 8:20.54, finishing ahead of Princeton’s 8:24.58.

Coaching and Training Progress

Head Coach Paul Rassam described the results as a positive development for the program’s current trajectory. He noted that the athletes have brought great energy and intent to the training and that the team is making progress.

These were some good wins and against some strong looking Stanford boats. This week has been a nice step forward.

Rassam also highlighted the value of the trip for the athletes, stating that the change of scenery provided an opportunity for the team to spend time together.

Historical Performance Against Stanford

The victory on April 11, 2026, continues a series of competitive meetings between the two programs for the Class of 2015 Cup. On April 12, 2025, Princeton retained the trophy at Lake Carnegie in Princeton, New Jersey, by sweeping all three races despite rain and high winds.

During the April 12, 2025, event, Princeton’s 8+ finished in 7:27.8, leading Stanford’s 7:41.8. The Princeton A boat won the 4+ with a time of 8:34.3 over Stanford’s 8:56.1, and the Tigers won the 2x with a time of 9:54.6 compared to Stanford’s 10:28.5.

In a previous meeting on April 15, 2023, the No. 1 ranked Princeton squad maintained an undefeated streak with a 10.4-second victory in the 1V race, finishing in 6:43.25 against Stanford’s 6:53.65. However, Stanford’s four earned a victory in that event with a time of 7:38.6, while Princeton’s A boat finished in 7:40.2 and the B boat in 8:03.3.
