Nagpur Roadshow: Priyanka Gandhi Engages with BJP Supporters

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a prominent Congress leader, led a roadshow in Nagpur, Maharashtra, ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. During the event, she encountered a group of BJP supporters waving flags from a building. With a smile, she wished them luck in the polls but also expressed confidence that the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction, would emerge victorious.

Nagpur is recognized as a BJP stronghold, home to the RSS headquarters and represented by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari since 2014. Currently, four out of six Assembly segments in Nagpur are controlled by BJP.

As the roadshow progressed, Priyanka greeted the crowd and engaged with BJP supporters waving flags and chanting party slogans. In a show of camaraderie, she addressed them through the microphone, wishing them well but reaffirming her belief in a victory for the Maha Vikas Aghadi. This remark received enthusiastic cheers from her supporters.

Following the roadshow, tensions flared between Congress candidate Bunty Shelke and BJP supporters, but local police quickly intervened to prevent any escalation.

Maharashtra’s elections are set for November 20, with high stakes on all sides. In the last Assembly election, the NDA alliance of BJP and Shiv Sena achieved a significant victory. However, a split occurred between the Shiv Sena factions, leading to the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition. This electoral contest is highly competitive, as both sides aim to recover from previous setbacks and secure a strong position in the Assembly.

In the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, the Congress-Sena UBT-NCP bloc won 30 out of 48 seats, while the Mahayuti secured 17 seats. Now, both the Maha Vikas Aghadi and Mahayuti are focused on making impactful gains in this year’s Assembly elections.
