The Hospital Authority’s seasonal influenza vaccination program was launched on Thursday to vaccinate eligible persons who regularly attend public hospitals and out-patient clinics. No appointment is required and they can submit an appointment to medical staff on the spot.

The Hospital Authority stated that this year, the public will be vaccinated with the quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine, which can effectively deal with influenza A H1, H3, and influenza B viruses. It also reminded that influenza viruses can infect high-risk groups such as children, the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases, which may lead to serious complications or even death. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to develop antibodies after vaccination. The public is urged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
