Protecting Homebuyers: Jinju City Takes Action to Prevent Real Estate Transaction Disasters
2024 Jinju City Certified Real Estate Agent Advisory Committee
Jinju City recently held the ‘2024 Jinju City Certified Real Estate Agent Advisory Committee’ at the city hall, focusing on fostering the real estate brokerage industry and preventing real estate transaction accidents.
The committee, formed to promote the growth of the real estate brokerage industry, discussed the current status of real estate brokerage workers, on-site crackdown results, and plans for implementing education to prevent real estate transaction accidents.
As of now, Jinju City has a total of 1,251 real estate agents, comprising 780 licensed real estate agents, 102 affiliated real estate agents, and 369 real estate assistants. This year, the city reported two cases through on-site inspections and imposed fines of 8 million won on six cases.
The city also conducted education on preventing real estate transaction accidents, covering major revised laws and practical cases, as well as recent illegal resale of apartment subscription rights in the district, targeting approximately 300 real estate brokers.
Future plans include holding a market commendation ceremony for exemplary real estate agents and sending out letters to approximately 800 licensed real estate agents in the region, emphasizing ethics and responsibility and asking them to prevent real estate transaction accidents.
In the first half of 2025, a personal information verification system for brokerage workers will be established through the city website to prevent illegal brokerage activities by unqualified persons, brokerage assistants, etc.

Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il emphasized the importance of capacity-building for real estate agents, stating, “In order to realize the public interest value of real estate agents, which is to protect citizens’ property, we need a capacity-building plan that emphasizes the responsibility and trustworthiness of real estate agents.” He added, “I ask that you pool the abilities and wisdom of the advisory committee members to begin the change toward the revival of the local economy and a dignified third miracle.”
