The recent launch of Sony’s PS5 Pro has sparked interest in its capabilities, particularly regarding the highly anticipated game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). Many are wondering if the game will be able to run at 60fps on the new console.
According to Digital Foundry’s expert, Mr. Leadbetter, GTA 6’s performance on the PS5 Pro is uncertain. He stated, “Grand Theft Auto games often run complex, CPU-intensive simulators.” Leadbetter also noted that the PS5 Pro uses the same CPU as the PS5, making it challenging to achieve 60fps if the base PS5 is targeting 30fps. This is not a GPU issue, but rather a CPU issue.
While the PS5 Pro’s improvements will undoubtedly enhance the game’s visuals, it is unlikely to deliver a 4K 60fps experience. Leadbetter explained, “If GTA 6 can’t maintain a locked 30fps (GTA 4 and GTA 5 can’t on PS3 and Xbox 360), the PS5 Pro will be able to run the CPU at a 10% increased clock speed, so you could experience more stable performance.”
Leadbetter’s analysis may have dampened the hopes of console users and potential PS5 Pro buyers, but it is essential to note that there is currently insufficient evidence to prove the capabilities of the PS5 Pro. Leadbetter concluded, “I think the hardware is absolutely not up to par. But whether that will actually be possible remains to be seen.”

the PS5 Pro’s specifications are similar to the PS5 in terms of internals, but its performance may be better due to its CPU. However, the actual performance of GTA 6 on the console remains uncertain until further announcements from Rockstar.
