Four Injured in Maguiresbridge Shooting as Community Reels from ”Horrific Tragedy”

MAGUIRESBRIDGE, Northern Ireland – A quite rural community in County Fermanagh has been left in shock and mourning following a devastating shooting incident that has left four people injured, one critically. The attack, which occurred in Maguiresbridge, has sent “waves of sadness” through the area, with local and national figures expressing thier deep concern and offering condolences.
Victims Hospitalised, One in Serious Condition
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:20 am after receiving a 999 call. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service deployed a significant response, including three emergency ambulances, a rapid response paramedic, two ambulance officers, and an ambulance doctor. The charity air ambulance was also called to the scene.
Of the four individuals who sustained gunshot wounds, one was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, while another was transported by ambulance to the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen. A fourth victim remains in hospital in a serious condition. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, but authorities have confirmed that all four suffered gunshot wounds.

Northern Ireland’s First Minister, Michelle O’Neill, expressed her profound heartbreak over the news. “My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the local community,” she stated on social media platform X. ”I have no doubt that the people of Maguiresbridge will come together and support one another through this incredibly arduous time.”
Sinn Féin MP Pat Cullen echoed these sentiments, conveying her deep shock and offering her thoughts to the victims and their families. She urged the public to refrain from speculating on the details of the incident, emphasizing the tragic and shocking nature of the event.
Former DUP leader Arlene Foster,who hails from nearby Brookeborough,described the news as “just absolutely devastating.” Speaking to the News Letter, she characterized Maguiresbridge as “a very sleepy little village in Fermanagh” and expressed her sorrow for all those impacted by what she termed an “absolutely horrific tragedy.” Foster, who has personal connections to wider family members affected by the incident, extended her deepest condolences, love, and support.DUP MLA deborah Erskine also conveyed the shock that has “stunned the entire community,” noting that the rural and quiet nature of Maguiresbridge makes the incident all the more impactful.”Everyone is deeply affected by what has happened this morning,” she said.

The official, who spoke at the scene, expressed his sympathy to the family members and loved ones of the victims, acknowledging their “total shock” and the struggle to come to terms with their “unimaginable loss.” He recognized the profound impact the event would have on the close-knit rural community, stating, “This is a quiet, rural location and I am aware that this tragic event will have sent waves of sadness throughout the community.”
