Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has dismissed viral reports claiming that managers of the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (Kopdes) earn 16 million rupiah per month, stating the figure is likely incorrect and excessive compared to provincial minimum wages. The denial follows social media posts detailing a high salary breakdown for the role, which Purbaya argues does not align with the economic reality of regional minimum wages (UMP).
Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa Denies 16 Million Rupiah Manager Salary
Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa responded to these claims by asserting that the figure is too high. According to reporting from detikFinance and CNBC Indonesia, Purbaya stated that such a salary would be unrealistic given that the provincial minimum wage (UMP) in most regions is significantly lower. He characterized the 16 million rupiah figure as “pasti salah” (certainly wrong) and noted that it seemed “kegedean” (too big).
Development of the KDKMP Ecosystem
While the salary dispute trended online, the government is focusing on the structural implementation of the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP). The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs has urged regional heads to actively build a supporting ecosystem for KDKMP by collaborating with various stakeholders.
As part of this rollout, a national seminar regarding KDKMP was held in Ternate, according to ANTARA Foto.
Zulkifli Hasan Address Operational Logistics
Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan addressed separate criticisms regarding the placement of these cooperatives. Responding to claims that some Kopdes were being established in impractical locations, such as in the middle of the sea, Zulkifli questioned the logic of such assertions. According to CNN Indonesia, Zulkifli asked rhetorically how construction work, specifically the process of cementing (nyemen), would be possible in such environments, effectively denying the notion that cooperatives are being built in the open ocean.
