pusha T Slams Drake Lawsuit, Reignites Feud Over “adidon”
Pusha T has voiced his disapproval of Drake’s recent UMG lawsuit, reigniting their longstanding feud. The rapper discussed the matter in an interview with GQ while promoting the upcoming Clipse album, Let God Sort Em Out.
Pusha T revealed that Universal Music Group (UMG) had pressured him to censor Kendrick Lamar’s verse on a track and even remove the record entirely. When he refused, both Clipse and Pusha T were dropped from Def Jam, according to the GQ interview. This incident mirrors the pushback he faced after releasing “Story of Adidon,” regarding verses on Rick Ross’ “Maybach Music VI” and Pop Smoke’s “Paranoia.”
The Pusha T Drake feud stems back to the release of “Story of Adidon.”
“If [Drake’s] adamant to have a lawsuit,” Pusha T said, “it’s only as he knows all the things that they did to suppress everything that was happening around ‘Adidon’ and the verses and the records and things that were happening back then. I don’t rate him no more. The suing thing is bigger than some rap sh–. I just don’t rate you. Damn, it’s like it just kind of cheapens the art of it once we gotta have real questions about suing and litigation. Like, what? For this?”
Despite the renewed tension, Pusha T indicated he isn’t actively seeking to reignite the beef. He stated that he feels no need to say anything subliminal, referencing a past incident where he attended a show in Canada and “made it home.” He added that he would only re-engage if he felt compelled to do so.
In the same interview, Pusha T addressed his relationship with Ye (formerly Kanye West), stating he no longer views him as “a man.” This follows a recent tweet from Ye expressing that he misses his friendship with the Virginia rapper.
